Emma FitzGerald sketches Halifax and its residents vividly, in colour. She effortlessly catches moments in the life of the city. While she draws, she keeps notes on what she sees — and what people say to her. She has an ear, as well as an eye.
In this sketchbook, you will find spots you didn’t know existed and hear stories you never imagined. Emma overhears conversations at local restaurants and bars, notices prom night in the Public Gardens, learns the recipe for McNabs Island's famous lemonade, checks out Ashtray Rock and finds out where the real fishermen live. The personality and character of the city and its people shine through.
Emma FitzGerald was born to Irish parents in Lesotho, Southern Africa. She moved to Canada at a young age and spent most of her childhood in Vancouver, British Columbia, but now calls Halifax, Nova Scotia home. Emma’s early travels instilled in her a keen interest in people and places. Her art practice is characterized by on-site drawing, place-based research and a sense of the poetic.

Local pickup orders are often ready within 2 hours. Orders made after 5pm (AST) or on days closed will be ready after 12pm (AST) the next business day and you will receive an email confirmation with pickup instructions when it is ready.

Free Shipping is available for orders over $150 within Canada (after any discount is applied, but before tax). Some exceptions apply and will be noted on the individual product listing.
We ship most orders via UPS, Fed Ex or Canada Post. Tracking is included on all Expedited Parcel, XpressPost and Priority orders. Tracking is also provided if you reach our free shipping tier.
