Union Street Pottery is a bright and happy studio in Halifax’s north end. Owner Andrea Puszkar has been making ceramic work, teaching pottery, and remembering beautiful things since 2000. Her ceramic work is in constant motion. Shifting and changing from functional to sculptural, earthenware to stoneware. Andrea works primarily with sgraffito (carving), slip cast molds, old photos, and decals. She moves between nostalgic, playful work that evokes joyful memories of travel and nature; and more traditional glazed stoneware work that resides firmly in the present, exploring form and function, glaze and reaction, and the interplay of colour and texture.
