"We Shall Never Rebuild Halifax Unless Everybody Works".
In the background of a photograph found in the online collection of the Nova Scotia Archives is a letterpress printed poster that was essentially Halifax's version of the famous "Keep Calm and Carry On" poster. "We Shall Never Rebuild Halifax Unless Everybody Works" was created after the Halifax Explosion, which had a tremendous impact on the city and its citizens − taking years to rebuild. The quote is a sentiment that still holds true today.
This inspiring commemorative keepsake poster was screenprinted by hand, in a limited 1 colour run. It serves as a great reminder that we, as Haligonians, have to work together to ensure Halifax maximizes its full potential.
Also available in a smaller 8x10 letterpress print!

Inkwell Originals is the in-house studio of Inkwell, a modern handmade boutique & letterpress studio in downtown Halifax. Graphic designers Andrea Rahal and Daniel MacDonald create art prints, greeting cards, postcards, stationery and drink coasters inspired by the ocean, coastline, Nova Scotia and the people of Halifax. Antique letterpresses create these tactile products. The cast-iron presses are hand-powered and the paper is fed by hand. The end result is a charming and tactile impression in the paper.
